The Cupcake Cowgirls[/caption]After running The Cupcake Cowgirls for two years, Rebecca Clanton-Lewis has passed ownership of the dessert shop over to Tina Clinkenbeard to spend more time with her family.
Located at 10750 Barker Cypress Road, Ste. 112, Cypress, the vintage-style shop specializes in cupcakes but also caters events, makes specialty cakes and serves chicken salad and gourmet BLT sandwiches as carryout lunch options.
Clanton-Lewis and her original recipes achieved fame after winning The Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” in October 2012. Clinkenbeard, who has been baking since age 11, said she plans to continue that legacy and keep the same award-winning recipes.
“With a background in ministry and education, I am passionate about people,” Clinkenbeard said. “This gives me the opportunity to serve the community and offer homestyle baked goods.”
The menu changes daily touting classic flavors, such as chocolate birthday and red velvet, as well as more creative options such as mudslinger, maple bacon, funky monkey and samoa.
For the next few months, Clanton-Lewis will help oversee the transition in ownership. Clinkenbeard said her children and their spouses will be a vital part of the truly family-operated business.
