Four years ago, restaurant owner Tom Cronin and General Manager Efrain Lucas partnered together to bring the Cozy Grape Wine Bar and Bistro to historic downtown Montgomery.

Cronin said he turned his passion for great food and wine into a casual dining experience for Montgomery residents after an extensive career in the oil and gas industry as well as food distribution.

“Our vision was to bring something different and unique to Montgomery,” Cronin said. “We combined the best of the wine bar, a bistro and an ale house to create the Cozy Grape.”

Sometimes simply called “The Grape,” the establishment focuses on its wine bar and offers local and imported wine by the glass or by the bottle.

“We offer a variety of wines from around the world,” Cronin said.

The restaurant kitchen offers a variety of entrees, such as pan-cooked trout amandine, a charcoal grilled filet mignon and tomatillo chicken enchiladas—the restaurant’s bestseller, Cronin said.

The menu is inspired by Lucas’ diverse restaurant experience, which includes French, Italian and Mexican restaurants he has previously worked at, Cronin said.

Cozy Grape customers can also order craft beer, including The Buried Hatchet—which is brewed at Southern Star Brewery in Conroe.

“We don’t serve store brand beers,” Cronin said. “We offer a varied selection of craft beers, which are produced locally or around Texas.”

The restaurant has lunch specials on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to accommodate its lunch crowd.

As a result of the Cozy Grape’s success, Cronin opened the Cozy Supper Club at 304 Caroline St., Montgomery, a year ago. The new restaurant offers different menu items, such as meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, empanadas, Pollo Romano, filet mignon and Chilean sea bass.
