The cookies and cream concoction is JAX Burgers, Fries Shakes' most popular milkshake. The dessert beverage complements a tasty hamburger meal, JAX owner John Recio said.

"The salty, greasy burger and fries blend well with the sweet and creamy blend of cookies and cream," Recio said.

John and his wife, Melissa, both own JAX, a eight-store Greater Houston area burger chain with one location in The Woodlands. The Recios are burger fare purists who believe in the traditional way of creating their menu offerings. For example, the restaurant uses a flat top grill to cook its hamburgers, and the milkshakes are crafted with an old-fashioned drink spinner.

"Everything we do is back from the old days," Melissa said. "Our buns are egg buns and handcrafted. The burger is all-natural, not a frozen patty. It's fresh."

John said the cookies and cream milkshake is a draw because of the large chunks of Oreo cookie mixed into the shake.

"Our recipes for milkshakes are really old-fashioned, hand-dipped and hand-spun, and made with just ice cream and whole milk," John said.
