Craft beer, a term familiar to most beer drinkers, describes beer made by small local breweries as opposed to large-scale producers. However, the concept of a craft burger—a burger that customers build by selecting their own ingredients—has only started gaining traction in recent years.
Houston-based eT Craft Burgers and Beer is a restaurant dedicated to bringing both craft concepts to diners at its new Cy-Fair location. The first eT restaurant opened in downtown Houston in 2010. Its newest location has been operating off Hwy. 290 since September 2014.
A craft burger at eT can be made with beef, chicken or turkey. Customers then have the option to select from 12 different spreads, including standard dressings like ketchup and mustard, as well as more adventurous options like jalapeno mayonnaise or Creole mustard. Lastly, customers choose from nearly 20 toppings, including fresh veggies such as spinach and sprouts as well as bacon, queso and chili.
The restaurant serves french fries, sodas and a wide variety of craft beer selections for $5. Several signature burgers and one rotating seasonal burger are also on the menu.
Al Pepi, president of Alonti Catering, which opened eT, said plans are underway to tweak the menu based on customer feedback from the first few months.
"[We] will introduce craft wine to the menu in February," he said. "Like the beer available at eT, the wine will be from small production vineyards and not available at the local grocery store or liquor shop. eT will also introduce a new seasonal burger made with fresh ingredients."
