Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a fast-casual restaurant chain, opened its newest Houston area franchise location July 1 in Magnolia.

The opening of the Magnolia location, at 32910 FM 2978 in the Westwood Village shopping center, marks the Kansas-based chain's fourth location in the Houston metro area and its 27th location in Texas, Freddy's spokeswoman Lexie Pearce said. The chain is expected to open a Sugar Land and Cy-Fair location by the end of 2014, she said.

"We opened our first area location in 2012 and are grateful that our guests have been so receptive of the Freddy's concept," Houston-area franchise operator Padden Nelson said. "New Freddy's locations mean many new opportunities to form lasting partnerships with local schools, area nonprofits and other organizations."

Pearce said Freddy's, which has 118 stores across 19 states, scouts locations with family-friendly environments and chose Magnolia for its newest location because of the family-oriented atmosphere it provides. Freddy's converted a former Arby's for its Magnolia location, and the conversion of a former establishment helps expedite the opening of a new location, which was another reason it chose Magnolia, she said.

The menu at Freddy's includes a variety of options such as lean-beef steakburgers, Vienna beef hot dogs, shoestring fries and an assortment of dessert treats prepared with either chocolate or vanilla frozen custard. The Magnolia location features indoor seating, patio dining as well as drive-thru service, according to a Freddy's news release.

"Freddy's brings to life the America of the late 1940s and early 1950s, a post-war era of pride and values focusing on quality family time," Freddy's COO Scott Redler said. "From steakburgers and veggie-burgers to chicken tenders to hot dogs, the Freddy's menu accommodates guests of all ages. We look forward to serving the community of Magnolia."
