Although several entertainment venues have expressed interest in Cypress area expansions, officials with Moviehouse & Eatery have officially declared they no longer have plans to come to Cy-Fair at this time.
In September 2015, the upscale dine-in movie theater chain
announced its first plans for expansion into the Greater Houston area, starting with a location in the Cypress Creek Lakes master-planned community.
At the time of the announcement, construction was expected to start in early 2016. The targeted grand opening date was set for spring 2017. Officials declined to comment on the change in plans.
Meanwhile, Star Cinema Grill is still moving forward with plans at the Miramesa Town Center at the intersection of Fry and West roads.
“Miramesa is going to be a great center in a great area,” said Jason Ostrow, vice president of development for Star Cinema Grill. “We are excited about the growing community and are looking forward to bringing a premium dine-in movie theater experience to the area.”
With construction at Miramesa Town Center ongoing, Ostrow said he hopes to see the theater building up within the next few months.
“We then will target a first quarter of 2017 opening,” he said.
The Miramesa location will feature the Sony 4K Digital Projection system, RealD 3D technology, state-of-the-art sound systems, luxury recliner seating and large movie screens, Ostrow said. The theater will provide a contemporary lounge area that will give the community a place to host private and professional events he said.
