An April event hosted by members of the Cypress Creek Cultural District to raise money for two monument signs that will rebrand the Spring and Klein community was cancelled recently—but for good reason.
“The event is cancelled because sufficient funds have been raised,” said Barbara Thomason, Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce president.
One of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce’s Grow Northwest’s major initiatives, besides business retention and recruitment and reducing crime, is to rebrand the Cypress Creek community, which includes the installation of monument and street signs.
The plan for one of the signs includes placement on a median on Cypresswood Drive near Stuebner Airline Road, she said.
“The second one we hope to place somewhere else east of that one along Cypresswood Drive,” Thomason said.
Thomason said issues such as homeowners associations and municipal utility districts taking over the costs for electricity and water drainage near the signs are still at play.
Next, Grow Northwest is looking to place a monument sign near Kuykendahl Road south of Cypress Creek Parkway.
The rebranding initiative has as one of its goals to create branded and formal entrances to communities, Thomason said.
“We’re very excited that this is moving forward as it is,” she said. “I hope that the whole community will get on board to support this branding effort.”
