Hughes Landing will soon be home to a new wine bar, Broken Barrel, that will offer tapas, small plates and a variety of wines.

According to The Woodlands Development Company, construction will begin in late April on the family-owned business and is expected to be completed in June. The wine bar will be adjacent to Restaurant Row on the ground level of One Lakes Edge, a mixed-use multifamily and retail complex in Hughes Landing. The large outdoor patio of the bar will overlook Lake Woodlands.

“Hughes Landing is the newest and trendiest place around, and if we were going to be in The Woodlands, which we were, we wanted to be in the heart of everything—in Hughes Landing,” managing partner Hilda Ysusi said. “At Broken Barrel, we want our guests to have a unique experience each time they visit. Our wine bottles will come from all around the world, catering to the sharing atmosphere that characterizes the restaurant.”

At Broken Barrel, guests can expect to find small plates of food—tapas—along with craft cocktails and wine. The menu also includes main dishes, charcuterie boards and a selection of handmade deserts. Wine selections at the bar come from a variety of worldwide vineyards and the wine menu features over 20 wines by the glass.

The wine bar is one of many new developments in Hughes Landing to open in 2016. Other restaurants, such as The Blue Fish and Truluck’s, are the two newest additions to Restaurant Row this year.
