Many of these commercial or residential projects were announced or in progress last year. Here’s what’s happening now.[/caption]

1. The Hills of Westlake housing development will ultimately encompass 130 acres of land at the intersection of La Salle Avenue and Hwy. 105 near Conroe. The development will include 300 lots as well as 14 acres of retail space along Hwy. 105 once complete. The project broke ground in summer 2015, and home construction by Chesmar Homes and David Weekley Homes is expected to begin in March.

 2. Construction started in April on the first 120 housing lots at Chase Run on League Line Road, west of its intersection with Hallmark Drive, in Conroe. The homes are located in Section 1 of the property, which spans 17 acres, and are priced within the $200,000 to $400,000 range. Ultimately, the development could include up to 600 lots. Developer LGI Homes expects construction of a community park and a pavilion to be completed by the end of the year.

3. Grand Central Park, a 2,046-acre mixed-use community, is under construction by Johnson Development Corp. at the intersection of S. Loop 336 W. and I-45 in Conroe. The project broke ground last year, and the first phase of construction includes 350 patio homes, townhomes and single-family residences. Once complete, the property will include 500 homes and urban-style living. Additionally, the property will include a town center, entertainment hub, restaurants, retail, pocket parks and trails. Home sales are slated to begin this year.

4. Bluejack National is a private community under development at
4430 S. FM 1486, Montgomery. The property encompasses 755 acres and includes an 18-hole golf course and a nine-hole short course developed by Tiger Woods Design. The community also includes various sports courts, a spa and wellness center, pools, zip lines, a bowling alley, a movie theater and several dining options. The property is limited to 386 residences that include estate homes, member suites, cottages and Sunday homes.

5. Water Crest on Lake Conroe by D.R. Horton is under development on League Line Road to the east of its intersection with Longmire Road in Conroe. The community features a recreational center, two pools, a clubhouse and a playground. The
181-acre development will feature 479 lots once complete.

6. Woodforest is a master-planned community at 101 Elk-Trace Pkwy., Montgomery. The development offers townhomes, patio homes, executive homes, homes for seniors, and custom homes. The property encompasses 700 acres and has 90 acres devoted to commercial development. Forest Island is under development within the community, featuring resort swimming, a 42-foot-tall water slide tower, sports courts and a zip line park. Homes range from $190,000 to over $1 million.

7. Fosters Ridge is under development on Old Conroe Road north of FM 1488 in Conroe. The development will feature 1,200 homes, a recreational center, pool and playground once complete. The property was purchased in January 2013, and development of its fifth and sixth sections started last year. Those sections will feature 123 homes.
