Friendswood Development Company announced the acquisition of a 200-acre tract from the Martens family to expand the Wildwood at NorthPointe master-planned community near Boudreaux and Telge roads in the coming years.

"We're excited about the opportunity to expand Wildwood at NorthPointe," said Michael Johnson, senior manager for Friendswood Development Company. "There will be a wide variety of [of amenities] with gated and non-gated areas around water features like amenity lakes."

The existing 700-acre subdivision is scheduled to undergo an expansion with the addition of 475 new home sites, trails, parks and a recreation center. The new home sites will include 50-foot to 75-foot lot sizes and offer prices ranging from the $200,000s to $600,000s.

The first phase of construction on the new home sites is expected for completion by late spring or early summer 2016, with complete build-out of the community planned for spring 2019. Johnson said the first phase of the project will constitute about a quarter of the total construction on the 200 acres, or between 120 and 130 homes.

Johnson said an estimated 2,000 homes are located in the existing Wildwood at NorthPointe and Oakcrest at Wildwood developments. In 2014, national research and consulting firm John Burns Real Estate Consulting included the NorthPointe subdivisions in its list of top 20 master-planned communities in the nation.

Johnson said Wildwood at NorthPointe features many attractions for residents.

"There's excellent Tomball ISD schools with brand new elementary and intermediate [campuses], which is one of the top growing districts in Houston," Johnson said. "[There's] easy access to Hwy. 249, entertainment and shopping. There's a lot of positive momentum with the Tomball area."
