Intersection and operational improvements are underway in the FM 1960 widening project extending from Hwy. 249 to Cutten Road in the Willowbrook area.

What’s happening

Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation said the work includes:
  • Concrete pavement reconstruction
  • New traffic signals
  • Sidewalk reconstruction and other accessibility improvements
  • Railroad crossing improvements
The comprehensive project began in December 2023 and is on track to wrap up by mid-2026. Drivers and pedestrians can expect closures throughout the project.

About 80% of the $27.3 million project is funded by federal sources while 20% is covered by the state. Design work on the project dates back to 2006, Community Impact previously reported.
