The Northwest Forest Republican Women celebrated the organization’s 50th anniversary on June 10.

It was founded in 1974 to educate women about politics and electing Republican candidates to office, club president Nancy Radcliffe said.

“Within a few years, the organization had grown to be one of the largest clubs in Harris County. Currently, NWFRW is the largest federated Republican women’s club in Texas, with over 250 members,” Radcliffe said.

Texas Supreme Court Justice Jane Bland was the guest speaker at the anniversary luncheon, and state Rep. Sam Harless, R-Spring, presented a resolution in honor of the anniversary.
