Cypress-based nonprofit Reach Unlimited is holding a virtual week of giving event Oct. 1-7 in lieu of its annual Reach for the Stars fundraiser event, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organization, which runs group homes and hosts programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is looking to raise $350,000 throughout the week to support operations.

Executive Director Lauren Black told Community Impact Newspaper that Reach Unlimited has lost more than $1.75 million in revenue since the start of the pandemic because its day program was forced to shut down. About 45 staff positions were retained with support from the federal Paycheck Protection Program, she said.

The virtual fundraiser features a video showcasing Reach Unlimited programs and testimonials from families. Community members can donate online or by sending checks to 11832 Mueller Cemetery Road, Cypress.
