Cypress Assistance Ministries to hold annual back-to-school drive

CAM plans to serve hundreds of children this August.

Each summer in Cy-Fair, community members and organizations collect new supplies for students returning to school in the fall through Cypress Assistance Ministries. Nearly 800 students received new backpacks and supplies through the program last year.

The local nonprofit is accepting donations of new backpacks, tennis shoes, underwear, socks and school supplies through July 19 at 11202 Huffmeister Road, Houston.

Students from disadvantaged families can receive each of these items while supplies last as well as a voucher for clothing from CAM’s resale store Angels’ Attic. Parents of qualifying children living in ZIP codes 77065, 77095, 77429 and 77433 can pick up supplies from Aug. 5-Sept. 13.

CAM’s offices will be open for distribution Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Families must bring photo identification, proof of address, proof of income and Social Security numbers for everyone in the household or school registration for each child.
