The event also featured a wall-breaking ceremony to mark the start of the demolition for the second phase of the building campaign, according to a news release. This new phase will help the organization meet the growing needs of the community with a synagogue for services; a conference room for classes and lectures; a lounge and library; an activities room; and a special youth room classroom for children to explore their heritage.
Rabbi Levi Marinovsky serves as the director of Chabad of Cypress and Northwest Houston, a local chapter of the global organization dedicated to the welfare of the Jewish people worldwide.
“This building is so much more than just a synagogue. It’s a hub for all Jewish needs, a haven and home away from home for all, and a place where the spiritual needs of everyone can be met,” Marinovsky said in a statement. “We are excited to offer a wide range of offerings from adult education to Hebrew School, from teen events to Holiday programs. It will be a vibrant center of learning, discovery, exploration, community and connection for young and old of various demographics, affiliations and backgrounds.”
While a concrete construction timeline has not yet been determined, Marinovsky said he is hopeful the project could be completed in January. Learn more about the project at www.chabadcypress.com/building or by emailing [email protected].
