Houston Yoga and Ayurveda, located at 13602 Kluge Road, Cypress, will be hosting a 10-year anniversary celebration Sept. 12, according to owner Sharon Kapp. The nonprofit is the only yoga therapy school in Houston, she said. The company began in March 2011 and specializes in ayurveda, the oldest known medical practice in the world, she said.
She said Houston Yoga and Ayurveda works with all ages and backgrounds ranging from veterans and teachers to those with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Their yoga practices are health-based and focus on transforming bodies with exposure to natural elements, she said.
“It’s a very sophisticated yet simple way of staying healthy,” she said.
The company is located “off-grid,” Kapp said, and receives energy from solar panels and uses its own septic and well water. She said staff grow all their own medicine on the property, which consists of 3 acres of organic fruit plants, trees and herbs.
The celebration will be open to the public and feature vendors specializing in holistic practices, the wellness field, classical dance and cows so children can learn about the benefits of a balanced environment with the help of cows, she said.
