Local dessert company Masterpiece Desserts is slated to open this month at 9111 FM 1960, Ste. A, Houston. Owner Kenneth Brooks said he and his wife started with a food truck, and this is the first brick-and-mortar location for the business, which specializes in miniature cheesecakes.

Flavors range from sweet potato to strawberry, cookies and cream, red velvet, cinnamon dolce and caramel crunch. Vegan options are also on the menu. The food truck can typically be found at Rosehill Beer Garden in Cypress on the weekends, but catering is also available.

A soft opening will take place every weekend leading up to the grand opening starting June 26. The grand opening event July 31 will feature a ribbon-cutting, music and entertainment, and it is open to the public starting at 11 a.m. 281-965-1535. www.masterpiecedesserts.com
