Harris County Pets will be waiving adoption fees through June 20 for all dogs and cats at its shelter, according to a June 15 news release. Pets adopted through the organization are spayed/neutered, receive their age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped and receive a county pet license for one year.

According to the release, Harris County Pets has been seeing an increase in the pet population since March and cannot comfortably house all pets.

“We invite everyone to visit our beautiful new facility and see all the amazing dogs and cats in need of a forever home,” Michael White, director of Harris County Veterinary Public Health, said in the release. “If you are unable to adopt one of our pets, please consider fostering a pet or volunteering at our facility or at our outreach events."

Harris County Pets is located at 612 Canino Road, Houston. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from noon-5:30 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Appointments can be made online or by phone at 281-999-3191.
