Officials with Emler Swim School announced the launch of new interactive online swim curriculum this week called Emler@Home. Designed for children ages 6 months to 10 years, the initiative allows parents to help their children learn to swim alongside instructors from the swim school without ever having to enter an Emler school site, according to a press release.

Families can choose to receive training via weekly video calls or through instructional videos online. A private Facebook group allows parents to share tips and connect with other participants.

Children will earn ribbons, stickers and downloadable certificates as they finish various levels, officials said.

“We felt we had to do something innovative if we wanted to continue to serve our families the Emler way and to do our part to stem the increasing cases of accidental child drownings,” CEO Greg Laird said in a statement.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drownings are the leading cause of accidental death in children. Emler Swim School, which operates 28 year-round facilities, sets out to help prevent accidental child drownings, officials said.
