According to the report, Houston was the top-performing metro area with 3,430 home sales year to date, or 20% of all master-planned community home sales in the U.S.
Sunterra, a Land Tejas/Starwood Land development in Katy, took the top spot for Houston at No. 8 nationwide with 450 home sales in the first half of the year.
Two Cypress communities—The Howard Hughes Corp.’s Bridgeland and Land Tejas/Starwood Land’s Marvida—followed in the No. 19 and No. 20 spots, respectively. Other master-planned communities in Katy, Conroe, Missouri City, Porter, Rosharon, Fulshear and Montgomery also made the list. See homes sales data on each of these 13 developments below: About 36% of the sales by the 50 top-selling communities across the U.S. were in Florida while Texas represented 34% of those sales.
Across the board, home sales declined by about 18% in the first half of 2022 compared to the first half of 2021. Officials in the RCLCO report said supply chain issues and low new home inventory have been a challenge for developers.
