HCA Houston Healthcare—part of HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division—announced Sept. 1 the completion of the purchase of North Cypress Medical Center, located at 21214, Hwy. 290, Cypress. The 139-bed facility was previously owned by physicians. According to a press release, the purchase also includes four freestanding emergency rooms located at 26271 Hwy. 290, Cypress; 22475 Hwy. 249, Houston; 9645 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress; and 15103 Mason Road, Cypress. “We are very pleased to be expanding our care in Northwest Houston,” said Troy Villarreal, HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division president, in a statement. “North Cypress Medical Center will offer area residents greater access to the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division’s network of providers and services. Over the coming months, we will work closely with the hospital’s medical staff, employees and the community to explore ways to enhance services and expand access to specialized health care throughout the area.” In 2017, HCA Gulf Coast Division acquired two other Cy-Fair area hospitals: Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital and Houston Northwest Medical Center. The former chief development officer at HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division, Jim Brown, has been named CEO of the hospital. His previous experience includes serving as senior vice president and CEO of ambulatory services for the Memorial Hermann Health System as well as CEO of Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. Brown also serves as a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and an advisory board member of the Trinity University Healthcare Administration Program. “Jim Brown is uniquely qualified to lead North Cypress Medical Center,” Villarreal said. “He has a strong background in hospital operations, a keen understanding of our strategic plan and a proven track record developing services that meet the community’s health care needs.”
