The Langham Creek Family YMCA has partnered with the Livestrong Foundation to offer North Cypress Cancer Center patients a free, 12-week health program.

The program—Livestrong at the YMCA—includes a 12-week family membership and two 90-minute sessions per week. During the 90-minute sessions, trained YMCA wellness coaches work with participants on their individual needs—ranging from post-rehab exercise to supportive cancer care. The cost of the program is underwritten by the Langham Creek Family YMCA, located at 16275 Longenbaugh Drive, Cypress.

“We are thrilled and so appreciative to the Langham Creek YMCA for reaching out to North Cypress to offer this to our patients,” said Janet Kantenberger, North Cypress Cancer Center liaison and oncology social worker.

The program is designed to build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance, improve well-being, reduce the severity of therapy side effects and prevent unwanted weight changes. To participate, patients must have physician approval and must meet with a wellness coach before starting.

The partnership is ongoing: the current 12-week session runs through Dec. 9, officials said. More sessions are planned for next year.
