Hospital leaders and community members gathered Sept. 13 to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new $100 million patient tower at HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress at 21214 Hwy. 290, Cypress.

Once the project is completed in spring 2026, the three-story tower will add 53 beds for a total of 216. Officials said the tower will allow for future expansion of up to six total stories.

Community Impact previously reported the new addition will include:
  • An expanded Central Sterile Processing Department
  • A 22-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit offering specialized care for those recovering following surgery, injury or illness
  • A 31-bed Medical Surgical Unit offering space for patients requiring medical and surgical care, and allowing for further expansion of the existing facility’s critical care services
  • Expanded parking facilities
The backstory

HCA Healthcare acquired the hospital in 2018, and HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress CEO Jim Brown said this project is the largest capital investment made on the campus since.

Since the acquisition, HCA Houston Healthcare has:
  • Added 24 critical care beds
  • Opened a third medical office building on campus
  • Launched an ambulatory surgery center
  • Opened a freestanding emergency room in the Copperfield area
  • Opened two CareNow Urgent Care clinics
Previously known as North Cypress Medical Center, the hospital opened in late 2006 and was operated by 137 physician partners. Brown said about 85 of those doctors are still with the hospital today.

“We're proud of the 18-year history that this hospital has in serving the Cypress area. We look forward to growing with this community and are excited to expand both our capacity as well as our services, allowing more Cypress-area residents to receive high-quality care close to home,” Brown said at the groundbreaking event.
