The Jersey Village Community Swimming Pool will reopen May 30 under its regular operating hours after being closed since late March due to the coronavirus, officials announced in an update posted to the city's website.
The city pool, located at Clark Henry Park on Ecuador Street, reopened under special hours for the Memorial Day weekend, but is slated to remain closed May 26-29.
Swimming pools were first allowed to reopen by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on May 8, along with salons, barbershops a batch of other business types. In an update posted May 18 to the city of Jersey Village website, city officials said they will be following guidelines laid out by Abbott, including restricting total occupancy to 25% and prohibiting individuals to gather in groups larger than 10 people.
"Within these groups, individuals should, to the extent possible, minimize in-person contact with others not in the individual’s household," according to the update. "Minimizing in-person contact includes maintaining six feet of separation from individuals. When maintaining six feet of separation is not feasible, other methods should be utilized to slow the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing a face covering or mask, washing or sanitizing hand[s] frequently, and avoiding sharing utensils or other common objects."
