The John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center will have a grand reopening event May 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at John Paul Landing Park, 9950 Katy Hockley Road, Cypress.

According to a news release from Harris County Precinct 4, the education center originally opened Feb. 14, 2020, but celebratory measures were delayed due to COVID-19.

During the event, attendees can witness the ribbon-cutting of the center and enjoy crafts, games, prizes, fishing opportunities, nature activities, food trucks, a DJ, a street performer and archery.

The John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center introduces visitors to local wildlife and ecology through various activities and permanent displays. According to the news release, visitors to the center can compare their wingspan to that of local birds, try matching feathers with the bird it came from, and review displays on local watersheds and the layers of the lake.

Outside the facility is a 170-acre lake with fishing piers, trails for walking and playgrounds.
