With all Harris County voting centers reporting results, incumbent Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, and Republican Lana Centonze have secured their spots on the November general election ballot for the U.S. House District 18 seat. Lee earned 59.94% of the votes in her primary, and Centonze earned 53.25% of the votes in hers.

"I'm deeply honored that God would allow me to be successful in the primary. I am also humbled by the overwhelming support of the people of District 18. I am eager to roll up my sleeves and get to work representing our values and priorities in this district and Congress," Centonze said in an email. "I would like to thank everyone who supported our campaign. For their tireless efforts as they worked daily to make this a success. I look forward to winning this election in November and bringing much-needed leadership back to our district, our state and our nation."

Sheila Jackson Lee and Lana Centonze appear to have won the U.S. House District 18 Democratic and Republican primaries, respectively. They are expected to face off in the November general election later this year.

While votes are still be counted in Harris County, Lee had 23,189 votes, or 59.96% in her race, and Centonze had 6,097 votes, or 53.23% in her race as of 8 a.m. March 6.

In the Democratic race, Amanda Edwards followed with 37.39% of votes, and Robert Slater has 2.65% of votes.


In the Republican race, Aaron Ray Hermes has 46.77% of votes.

As of 10:30 p.m., 46 of 545 voting centers were reporting election results in Harris County. Sheila Jackson Lee and Lana Centonze maintain their leads in the Democratic and Republican primaries with 62.1% and 53.86% of votes in their respective races.

With early voting and mail-in ballot results tabulated, the Harris County Clerk’s Office reports Sheila Jackson Lee and Lana Centonze have taken early leads in the Democratic and Republican primaries, respectively.
  • Sheila Jackson Lee received 14,098 or 62% of the votes prior to election day.
  • Amanda Edwards received 8,067 or 35% of the votes prior to election day.
  • Robert Slater received 514 or 2% of the votes prior to election day.
  • Lana Centonze received 3,247 or 53% of the votes prior to election day.
  • Aaron Ray Hermes received 2,792 or 46% of the votes prior to election day.
Edwards, Slater and incumbent Lee are campaigning to represent residents of U.S. Congressional District 18 in the March 5 Democratic primary election.

Centonze and Hermes are campaigning in the March 5 Republican primary.


The district includes 16% of Harris County, including parts of Atascocita, Houston, Humble, Jacinto City and other unincorporated parts of the county, according to the Texas Legislative Council.

Lee has held the seat since the mid-1990s.
