Cy-Fair ISD officials are requesting feedback from the community before proposing the 2025-26 instructional calendar to the school board for a final vote.

The Districtwide Educational Improvement Council has released two options and is accepting input via an online survey until Oct. 30 at noon.

The options

Both versions have the first day of school set for Wednesday, Aug. 13, with professional development for staff taking place Aug. 4-12. Until the district secured its District of Innovation status, it had to follow the state law mandating school districts can’t start the school year until the fourth Monday of August, which would have been Aug. 25, 2025.

Other similarities between the two options include a full week off for Thanksgiving and about two weeks off for winter break.

Version 1 has the last day of school on May 21, before Memorial Day, and a mid-March spring break that lines up with Lone Star College’s academic calendar.

Version 2 ends the school year on May 28, after Memorial Day, and sets spring break the week before Lone Star College’s spring break. This calendar includes more days off throughout the school year for students and staff.

CFISD parents, employees, students and community members can compare each version in further detail and vote for their preference here until Oct. 30 at noon. The survey also includes an option to vote for neither proposed version.

The board approved CFISD’s 2024-25 academic calendar after reducing the number of proposed student and staff holidays throughout the school year to push back the start of August professional development and the first day of school.

According to district documents, DEIC members will review community feedback in early November and present their final proposal to the board at either the Nov. 7 work session or the Nov. 11 regular meeting. Stakeholders can learn more about sharing feedback at public board meetings here.
