Community members who are exploring career options or enjoy home maintenance projects are invited to take a free workshop led by industry experts at National Technical Institute’s Houston campus, according to a news release.

On Sept. 5, two hands-on workshops will be offered from 5-6 p.m.:
  • Electrical: Participants will learn how to change a ground fault circuit interrupter, which can help prevent electrocution, electric shocks and burns following power surges.
  • Plumbing: Participants will learn how to fix a running toilet by rebuilding the tank.
About the program

NTI is a state-approved trade school that offers training in HVAC, plumbing and electrical work.

What they’re saying

"Learning a trade can be intimidating for some, which is why we wanted to give those considering a career in the trades a chance to experience it firsthand without any commitment," NTI Houston Campus Director Derek NeSmith said in the release. "While these free workshops are designed for individuals exploring trade careers, we're also opening our doors to the general public, as these valuable skills can benefit anyone.”
