“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Killian to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD,” board President Scott Henry said in a statement. “His experience, knowledge and passion for education will be an asset to our students, staff and community for years to come.”
Killian replaces outgoing Superintendent Mark Henry, who announced his decision to retire in May.
How it happened
The previous board conducted a search to find Killian. He was announced as the lone finalist for the position Nov. 13 and will begin his new role as the CFISD superintendent Jan. 1.
The new board members were given the opportunity to meet him after the Nov. 7 election. His contract was then negotiated and approved by the new board.
In their own words
Killian has served as superintendent for Pflugerville ISD since 2017.
“I’d just like to say to the community of Cy-Fair that I do take the job very seriously, that it's a trust," Killian said during the Nov. 13 board meeting. "And it's a job where I serve, and I want to commit to everybody here that I will serve the community in the best interests of children for the entire time I'm here.”
