The four members of the Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees who were elected during the Nov. 7 general election were sworn into office during the board’s work session Dec. 7. Each will serve a four-year term.
  • Todd LeCompte, a newly elected trustee, was sworn into his first term for Position 1.
  • Julie Hinaman, who was re-elected, was sworn into her second term for Position 2.
  • Justin Ray, a newly elected trustee, was sworn into his first term for Position 3.
  • Christine Kalmbach, a newly elected trustee, was sworn into her first term for Position 4.
State Rep. Tom Oliverson, R-Cypress, administered the oath of office to LeCompte, Ray and Kalmbach; board Secretary Holly Reichert administered the oath of office to Hinaman.

The vote

Following the oath, the board reorganized by electing new officers in accordance with district board policy. The new officers are as follows:
  • Scott Henry was elected as president.
  • Natalie Blasingame was elected vice president.
  • Ray was elected secretary.
What else?

Henry announced that going forward the following changes would be enacted in the board’s operational procedures:
  • Agenda items will not necessarily be read in their entirety during meetings going forward.
  • Henry will not automatically yield to each trustee individually as his predecessor Tom Jackson had. Instead, Henry will allow board members to request the floor to ask questions about particular agenda items.
  • A majority of items will be automatically moved to the consent agenda; these items are typically adopted without discussion. However, board members can request that an item be removed from the consent agenda if they do so in advance of the meeting date.
“These changes are an aim to streamline the process to ensure that we efficiently address the matters that impact our educators or children or parents,” Henry said. “And by doing so we can also aim to facilitate timely conclusion of our meetings to the benefit of our dedicated staff.”
