Board President Tom Jackson said board members were given a list of 40 nominations of potential district facility namesakes. No other recommendations were put forth at the meeting, and the board unanimously voted to name the Exhibit Center after the Jarrars.
Officials said the Jarrar family has supported the CFISD Livestock Show & Sale since 2003 and has contributed more than $1.44 million to student projects.
Mike Jarrar founded his plumbing company in 1978 and continues to run Jarrar & Company, Inc. Darlene Jarrar graduated from Jersey Village High School in 1978, and the couple’s four children all attended CFISD schools.
“I have personally observed Mr. Jarrar and Mrs. Jarrar in action since they became involved with our Livestock Show, and without them, it would not be as successful as it is today,” Trustee Debbie Blackshear said. “He not only encourages others to stay; Mr. Jarrar stays to the very end of the sale and makes sure every student has a buyer.”
