The U.S. and Texas departments of agriculture have granted an extension to Cy-Fair ISD’s eligibility waiver to serve meals at no charge to students through Oct. 31. Initially scheduled to expire at the end of September, the program allows all students to receive free breakfasts and lunches regardless of their eligibility.

“I am extremely grateful that USDA and TDA have extended our eligibility waiver through Oct. 31,” Nutrition Services Director Darin Crawford said in a statement. “Harvey impacted our entire community, and it is exciting to be able to offer this benefit to all of the families in our district.”

Officials believe it is unlikely that these entities will extend the service any further than Oct. 31 and advise parents of students who will still be in need of free and reduced meals to fill out applications at www.schoolcafe.comParents can also pick up an application at any school in the district or at the Nutrition Services Department office at 11355 Perry Road, Houston.
