Elementary schools 55 and 56, products of the 2007 and 2014 Cy-Fair ISD bonds, respectively, were named at Monday night's CFISD board meeting after Jim and Pam Wells and Janet Hoover. The Adaptive Behavior Center was also re-named after Maybelline Carpenter.
Elementary School 55:
Superintendent Mark Henry moved for Elementary School 55 to be named after Jim and Pam Wells, two former staff members of CFISD.
Pam Wells currently serves as the executive director of Region 4. She served in a variety of roles in the district including associate superintendent for facilities, planning, and community relations and director of instruction at Cy-Fair High School. Jim Wells served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal at Thornton Middle School and Cypress Creek High School.
Dr. Pam and Jim Wells Elementary School is constructed on the same land as Bridgeland High School. Both will open in August 2017.
The two schools will be joined by a middle school as part of the 120-acre multicampus educational village. All three schools are located in Bridgeland, at the Grand Parkway and Mason Road.

The CFISD board of trustees unanimously approved the naming of Elementary School 56 in honor of Janet Hoover, long time CFISD educator within elementary schools throughout the district.
Janet Hoover Elementary School is being built on Greenhouse Road, directly across from Jowell Elementary. The two elementary schools will work together to serve the needs of young students. Janet Hoover Elementary School will educate students in pre-K through second grade. Jowell Elementary School will educate students in grades three through five.
Janet Hoover Elementary School is expected to open in August 2017.
Adaptive Behavior Center:
Henry moved for the Adaptive Behavior Center to be renamed in honor of Maybelline Carpenter, former director of more than 20 years. Prior to working in CFISD, Carpenter worked in Memphis city schools and Houston ISD.
