Family-owned Tex-Mex restaurant Pichurro’s Mexican Grill expanded from Tomball to Cypress in November 2023.

“We worked at El Charro Mexican Restaurant in Cypress for over 10 years and decided to open our own restaurant with our experience and family recipes,” Ivan Aguado said.

A family affair

Pichurro’s Mexican Grill is owned by brothers Ivan Aguado, Ignasio Aguado, Romelio Aguado and their uncle Johny Rodriguez.

Originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, Ivan Aguado said he’s lived in the Cypress area since he was in middle school; however his family-owned restaurant opened in Tomball in June 2022.

Ivan Aguado said the family’s restaurant experience comes from generations of family-owned restaurants including Las Cascados and El Rincon in Houston.

Though the Tomball location opened first, Aguado said the Cypress location has quickly gained more attention from the community.

On the menu

Pichurro’s Mexican Grill specializes in Tex-Mex with recipes from previous family generations. Menu favorites include sizzling fajitas and enchiladas.

“What makes our restaurant special is the quality of food and service we offer,” Ivan said. “We enjoy gathering with others and making everyone feel at home.”

Pichurro’s Mexican Grill offers specials including fajita Wednesdays for two for $27.99; kids eat free Thursdays with the purchase of an adult meal; happy hour all day Monday and Tuesday; and $3 small margaritas on Saturdays.

“We hope that new customers will come and give us a chance and try our version of Tex-Mex,” Rodriguez said. ”We want to be that go-to local restaurant where people feel comfortable.”
