Bantu House has opened its doors, offering diverse African flavors to the Cypress area.

The details

Owner Winny Mbianda said the restaurant is a celebration of culture, community and connection.

The restaurant serves West African cuisine and offers vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Officials from the restaurant said the staple dish is egusi with fufu––egusi is a thick spicy vegetarian soup made with melon seeds and other vegetables, and fufu is a dough made from mashed yams.

Quote of note

“We source our ingredients locally and support African farmers whenever possible to ensure the highest quality and sustainability of our products,” Mbianda said in an email statement. “Our ultimate goal is to become a cultural institution that inspires people to explore and appreciate the beauty and diversity of Africa.”
