The tacos al pastor plate at Tacoland Mex-Mex Tacos in Cypress includes five tacos on double-sided yellow corn tortillas with pastor meat, grilled pineapple bits, onions, cilantro and optional hot sauce. The dish costs $7.95.

Tacoland serves a variety of Mexican food items, including street tacos, burritos, breakfast plates and appetizers. Owner Juan Lozano said the restaurant aims to capture the authenticity of the kind of food a person would find in Mexico.

“We do our best to bring original authentic Mexican flavors to Houston,” he said. “Our chefs are all Mexican and bring recipes used in Mexico for generations. A simple example is the way we cook our corn tortillas and tamales—one by one, by hand—from scratch. I asked our crews to focus on that and be the best host they can be.”

Tacoland also sells chips and salsa,  tortas and beer buckets to complement the tacos, as well as larger order options for tamales and tacos.
