Offering a twist on a Mexican classic, the signature drink at Willowbrook-area pizza parlor Gino’s East is made with 100-proof Dulce Vida tequila and Disaronno Amaretto liqueur. Served margarita-style with salt and a lime, the drink is among the restaurant’s most popular, Manager Eddy Amrieh said.
“Along with the Moscow Mule, it makes up 40 percent of our drink sales,” he said. “It pairs very well with the deep dish pizza we serve here.”
The name is enough to make customers curious, Amrieh said. The Italian liqueur harmonizes with the strong tequila and the sweet and sour mix, he said. Known chiefly for its pizzas, the eatery offers a variety of cocktails made from recipes developed in-house, including the Texas Sipper with Absolut Texas Vodka and served with an orange slice.
