Officials with Bridgeland, the largest master-planned community in Cypress, recently announced the construction of a work of public art by Konstantin Dimopoulos to welcome people to Prairieland Village. Dimopoulos is known for creating works that reflect the surrounding environment and have a minimal carbon footprint, according to a news release.

“We wanted a definitive piece of art to welcome residents and visitors to Prairieland Village, and our thoughts kept coming back to Konstantin,” said Health Melton of The Howard Hughes Corporation. “The existing artwork he has created for Bridgeland is not only breathtaking and distinct, it also poignantly reflects the community’s symbiotic relationship with the area’s native landscape. Konstantin has an innate understanding of the integration of the community into its natural setting.”

The work, “Rising Knoll,” will feature two offset, curved forms that will be set along a primary entryway. The eastern side of the sculpture will feature lighter shades of red and orange to signify the rising sun while the west side of the piece will have darker hues to represent the setting sun, officials said.

The piece is part of Bridgeland's third village, Prairieland Village, which will hold a grand opening this spring and usher in 7,000 new homesites, according to a news release.
