Bridgeland developers The Howard Hughes Corporation announced this week it is developing a new gated community called Sheldon Lake, the first neighborhood of custom homes in Parkland Village. The community will tout 24 half-acre homesites in the first phase of development, with homes starting in the $800,000 price range.
Lots will be available this fall, and grand opening plans are in the works for next summer in Parkland Village, officials said.
Lona Shipp, director of residential marketing with Bridgeland, said market research revealed the project would appeal to both current Bridgeland residents and families relocating from outside the area.
“The higher-end product was really something that we hadn’t had in the community for a while,” she said. “We know a lot of our current Bridgeland residents have advanced in life stage and are ready to move up to a higher-end home.”
Sheldon Lake will offer more flexibility in design than other sections throughout the master-planned community, Shipp said. The gated community will provide a private setting with the opportunity for waterfront views.
The two builders in the new neighborhood, Partners in Building and Fedrick, Harris Estate Homes, are both focused on building dream homes for their customers, she said. Clients will be able to modify existing plans or come up with their own designs alongside builders.
Sheldon Lake’s aesthetics will focus on contemporary designs with eclectic architectural styles, officials said. The community will also have a neighborhood park and a network of trails connecting residents to a future 25-acre village park. Street names are inspired by historical figures, landmarks and native vegetation and wildlife found in Texas’ Sheldon Lake State Park.
