What we reported Approximately 23,000 new single-family homes are projected to be built in the Cy-Fair area by 2026, according to a May 2017 study by the demographics firm Population and Survey Analysts. The five single-family developments projected to add the most homes in that time frame—Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Westfield Village, Canyon Lakes West and Dunham Pointe—could add more than 10,500 homes.
The latest Home construction progressed at several of the largest master-planned communities in Cy-Fair in 2017, including Bridgeland, where officials broke ground on Parkland Village, the second of four planned community villages. A few major new projects are expected to move forward over the next three years, including the 1,300-acre Dunham Pointe—which will be located south of Hwy. 290 near Mason and Mueschke roads—and a 1,600-acre project being carried out by Johnson Development Corp. along Hwy. 290 west of the Grand Parkway.
What’s next Douglas Goff, co-president and chief operating officer of Johnson Development, said the project is set to hit the market along Hwy. 290 in 2020. Developer Archie Dunham, who is developing Dunham Pointe, said construction on retail, residential spaces and infrastructure for the community began in 2017 and could be completed by the end of 2019. In the second quarter of 2018, construction will begin on a water plant within the community. Officials are working to collaborate with local entities, such as TxDOT and Harris County, to gain permission and meet regulations regarding the creation of new street crossings at Mason and Mueschke roads to the south side of Hwy. 290.
