After purchasing eight acres of land off Kathy Lane in Cypress in January, local nonprofit
Deep Cypress Alliance has released plans for a new community garden project called Deep Cypress Gardens. The group plans to break ground Feb. 22.
One of the primary goals of the Deep Cypress Conservancy—a program run by DCA—is acquiring property to preserve and maintain green space in Cypress, officials said. A master plan for the garden depicts plans for a restaurant, greenhouse and banquet hall in addition to open green space, an outdoor pavilion, a wedding garden, edible garden and citrus grove. The space will also be used for Conservancy operations, community engagement and conservation education, officials said.
Deep Cypress Gardens is scheduled to open early 2018. More details are expected to be released by DCA officials Feb. 15.
