After months of construction work, the newly renovated Pridgeon Stadium is ready to host Cypress Woods and Cypress Springs high schools tomorrow night for the 7 p.m. kickoff.
A matchup between Jersey Village and Cypress Ridge high schools at Pridgeon, originally set for tonight, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m.
“We did decide to move the game that was scheduled for tonight to Saturday,” said Roy Sprague, associate superintendent of facilities, construction and support services. “We just need another day or so to get the site cleaned up and wrap up some minor details to make sure that our guests have an enjoyable experience.”
Sprague said flooding and rain delays going back to April caused some unexpected obstacles in the construction process. Through an insurance claim after flood damage, crews had to replace the field itself, which had just been replaced three years ago.

This project came on top of the initially planned renovations, which include: a brand new two-story press box with elevator access; new restrooms and concession stations on the home and visitor sides of the field; a new scoreboard, sound system and lighting; renovated fencing and a second entrance to separate the athletes from the marching band and drill team members.
A concrete parking lot was completed last year, and the site’s new natatorium will be under construction for the rest of the year. Sprague said opening the new natatorium will complete Pridgeon Stadium renovations in January 2017.
Pridgeon Stadium originally opened off Windfern Road in 1977, serving as home field for Cy-Fair ISD varsity football games. A portion of the district’s $1.2 billion bond referendum passed in May 2014 was delegated to stadium renovations. Sprague said this project cost nearly $43 million.
“It’s a major transformation,” he said. “Our high schools are really excited for our first game on the new field tomorrow night.”
