Willowbrook Mall has begun aesthetic renovations on its 1.3 million-square-foot shopping center.

The mall is updating its entrance and food court with renovations that are expected to be completed later this year before the start of the holiday season, mall officials said. Willowbrook Mall, which is owned by General Growth Properties Inc., announced the indoor and outdoor renovations on June 29.

A two-story clear structure will be added to the mall entrance to add more natural lighting to the area. The food court will also see an overhaul that will bring new restaurants into the mall, although mall officials could not confirm any new potential eateries. Some restaurants will close temporarily during the renovation.

“The entrance changes will add a new modern feel as shoppers approach, and the changes to the food court are going to be impressive—a lighter and brighter environment,” Willowbrook Mall General Manager Brenda Crawford said. “This renovation speaks to our continued commitment to provide the best shopping experience and environment.”

Willowbrook Mall has added a number of businesses in the past year, including Bar Louie, Lush Cosmetics, Nordstrom Rack, Michael Kors and White House Black Market. Women’s fitness retailer SIX:02 and women’s apparel shop RQ Apparel & Accessories opened in the mall in June.
Other stores within the mall are also renovating, mall officials said. Forever 21 completed renovations and reopened in May on its nearly 20,000-square-foot space, while Kids Foot Locker is undergoing a renovation and plans to reopen this summer.
