This brings the district’s total number of cases reported since the start of the 2020-21 school year to 3,233. As of March 1, CFISD reported 104 active cases and 3,129 recoveries. After districtwide cases spiked in January with more than 300 per week on average, the numbers began trending down in February, mirroring Harris County's trends. Bridgeland High School was the campus with the highest number of new cases confirmed in the past week with two employees, seven students and one other individual. More campus-specific data can be found here.
The Texas Education Agency requires public school districts throughout the state to submit a weekly report detailing the number of test-confirmed positive COVID-19 cases among students and employees who participate in any on-campus activity. This data does not include students learning remotely and may not include those who test positive while in quarantine if they were not on campus during their infectious period.
CFISD students and staff members who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are eligible for free rapid testing services at the site where Windfern High School was formerly located, 12630 Windfern Road, Houston, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
A student ID or employee badge is required to receive one of these free tests, and students under age 18 must have parent or guardian consent. See additional requirements here.
