A total of 312 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed June 11 in Harris County, according to updated data from the Harris County Public Health Department. An average of 323 new cases have been confirmed each day in the county over the past week.
The total number of known cases in the county now stands at 15,864, 9,296 of which are considered active while another 6,301 are confirmed to have recovered and 267 have died. No new deaths were confirmed June 11, including in the city of Houston.
A total of 776 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in Harris County as of June 10, according to data from the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council. That number is up from 741 on June 9 and 670 from the week prior.
As hospitalizations continue to rise in Harris County, officials said occupancy rates in intensive care units are still manageable but are trending in a worrying direction. As a result, officials announced a new COVID-19 public threat system meant to provide guidance for how Harris County residents should adjust their behavior based on recent trends.
