The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon takes place tomorrow, June 13, at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Two officials with Union Pacific Railroad Company—Safety Manager Kevin Barnett and Director of Public Affairs Richard Zientek—will speak on railroads in Cypress. Johnson Development acquires 1,600 acres


Residential and commercial development company Johnson Development has purchased 1,619 acres of land in Northwest Harris County. The company has not released any details on when development could take place, or what the land will be used for. Johnson Development has created master-planned communities across Houston, including Woodforest and Sienna Plantation.

Instacart expands to Northwest Houston, Jersey Village


Instacart, a grocery delivery service, is expanding its services throughout Houston, including to the 77040 ZIP code and the Jersey Village area. The service allows customers to purchase groceries and products from a variety of stores—including H-E-B, Total Wine & More, Spec’s and Petco—using an app. Customers can arrange to have products delivered directly to their households. New customers can try the service for free for a year. The expansion officially goes into effect June 15.

Overflow comes to Bayou City Fellowship June 16-17


Overflow, a ministry of Bayou City Fellowship, returns to the Cy-Fair area this weekend. The event is dedicated to helping single mothers, including mothers who are separated, divorced, never married or widowed as well as women with incarcerated husbands, grandmothers raising grandchildren, military wives and adoptive and foster moms. The event features breakout sessions and a variety of motivational speakers, including Lisa Harper, an author who adopted a child from Haiti three years ago. The event also includes a program for children ages 2 months through middle school with games, crafts, activities and faith-based teachings.
