Luigi's Italian Gelato & Coffee officials said the gelato shop opened in early April and is now serving gelato and coffee.

How it happened

Luigi's Italian Gelato & Coffee is co-owned by husband and wife Terrence and Deshonda Gaskin. The couple said the business originated with a small gelato cart in a mall in Baltimore. After testing gelato flavors with the public for six months, Luigi's Italian Gelato & Coffee owners said they moved the business to Houston and opened after eight months of preparation.

What they offer

Luigi's Italian Gelato & Coffee offers Italian gelato, gelato shakes, coffee imported from Panama, hot chocolate, cold brew and sorbetto—a dairy- and egg-free frozen treat.

With eleven standard flavors to choose from, some gelato flavors include hazelnut crackle, coffee and cookies, vanilla bean, salted caramel, Swiss chocolate and roasted strawberries.
