Scott Thomas Homes, a residential builder in Houston, has focused on Fort Bend County for years. Now, the business is moving into Cypress. Thursday, the group celebrated the grand opening of its move into Towne Lake, a master-planned community located off Barker Cypress Road, near Hwy. 290.

“We like this side of town, the amount of activity over here and the number of buyers,” said Tom Cawthon, president and founder.

Standard features in the customizable homes include stainless steel appliances, oil-rubbed bronze hardware and light fixtures, granite kitchen countertops, wrought-iron stair parts and ceramic flooring in many rooms.

Scott Thomas Homes has 18 lots in Towne Lake, but is looking to expand the company’s range in the future.

Cawthon said he is a small builder intentionally. He attends every closing himself and knows his clients by name.

“We pride ourselves on attention to detail and doing things the right way,” Cawthon said. “I always tell my kids that no one can take your integrity—you have to give it away. Once it’s gone, you can’t get it back. I think the same is true in the homebuilding arena.”
