Aqua Aquarium may have just opened in March but owner Mike Truong has been constantly finding ways to add and improve his business ever since.

“It’s something I’m passionate about, so there’s a lot of motivation to keep making things better for customers,” Truong said. “The business is young, but the plan has always been to offer a full line of inventory.”

The shop specializes in marine livestock for saltwater and freshwater aquariums, including fish, coral, snails, hermit crabs and other creatures. Truong also provides aquarium design and installation services for businesses and residences.

As a longtime marine life enthusiast, Truong has amassed an impressive collection. This came in handy during his first few months of business, he said.

“I worked in wholesale for almost 10 years before I started doing retail,” he said. “It allowed me to see what practices helped businesses succeed.”

New shipments of marine inventory come in regularly, including tiger anglers and serpae tetras. Truong said he has plans to continue to improve the display area as inventory grows.
