Opening night of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’
Oct. 7
Stageworks Theatre presents “Little Shop of Horrors” by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken from Oct. 7-30. The play tells the story of a floral assistant, Seymour Krelborn, as he stumbles across a new breed of plant and attempts to feed its insatiable thirst for blood. The show has adult language, implied domestic violence and dramatized on stage death.

Shades of Autumn Art Show
Oct. 8
The Purple Elephant Art Community, a local gallery and art shop, will host its biannual community art show to display the work of its artists. Artists include Kathryn Bonner, Jerrie Glidden, Marce Maldonado, Constance Paul, MV Poffenberger and Shirley Scarpetta. The event will be catered by Joseph Brice Haynes.

Jersey Village Baptist Church car show
Oct. 8
Jersey Village Baptist Church presents a car show and shine. The event will feature awards, free food and music. All proceeds go to Jersey Village Baptist Church.

Cy-Fair ISD Health Expo
Oct. 8
CFISD hosts its health expo for all ages and members of the community. The event will feature live performances and demonstrations about how to live a healthy life. Performances include tap dancing, cup stacking, jump rope groups, choirs and martial arts.

Blessing of the Animals
Oct. 9
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will host its annual blessing of the animals in honor of St. Francis, the patron saint of all God’s creatures. The church will collect dog and cat food for Interfaith Ministries’ outreach and aniMeals on Wheels. The church encourages leashes, pet carriers and costumes.
